Moeraki Hub

This is of a tiny township called Moeraki, it was originally a fishing village but now it is the restaurant Fleurs place that draws people in. This restaurant has a worldwide following - known for fresh local fish and also muttonbirds. The restaurant is the large grey building at the beginning of the wharf it used to be the fish processing shed.This is very close to where the Moeraki boulders are found, over the next few days i will show you these fascinating quirks of nature.

I do not always get to check my site every day , so i apologise for not commenting immediately,but i do generally check in 3-5 times a week so your comments are always viewed and appreciated. What a great idea, turning the old fish processing shed into a restaurant. It would be lovely to take a boat out and cruise along that coastline.

@Mike: Yes it would be good to do that,you probably could get a boat but i haven't tryed.

@jamesy: The village is cute, small and really laid back.Perfect for a holiday when you can walk to the boulders about 2kms? away . There is a lighthouse on the peninsula point also. There are old houses to rent!

beautiful shot -- check out those awesome clouds!! so smooth! thanks for the 'skinny' on this restaurant -- might need to include that in my plans for NZ when that finally come around! ;) looking forward to seeing these fascinating boulders you speak of!! i am intrigued!!

@Vinod: Vinod NZ is the land of the long white cloud, ---- but there is nearly always cloud somewhere. So we are lucky having the ever changing sky, thanks Vinod.

Definitely has a fishing village feel to it. Living in the middle of farmland for miles and miles it is hard for me to imagine so much water just outside...

@willow: willow you get very blase about living beside the sea, but every so often you can stop and look and see and enjoy. When i was a young mum of 3 we lived 800ft above the sea on a farm ,everyone who came to visit would love the view, but i seldom had time to enjoy it. Now i love spending time by the sea.

Did you know "Fleurs" means "flowers" in French ? are there many flowers there ? ;-)

@Namaki: No i think the owners name maybe Fleur. Yes i knew it ment flowers as i had a friend name her daughter Fleur. unfortunately there are not a lot of flowers there

@Observing: Sorry Mike I dont know,we were there for 15mins only as on the way to the boulders.
