Rock of color and texture.

Shag rock itself with the early light displaying it to its best. The almost carved look to it and the lovely shades of red at the base and almost green of the grey body.

I do not always get to check my site every day , so i apologise for not commenting immediately,but i do generally check in 3-5 times a week so your comments are always viewed and appreciated. @jamesy: Yes the sunrise colors finished and for a short period there was a blank canvas so to speak.

What a lovely shot Maxine. And the most interesting aspect of it is your composition. You framed it in such a way as to provide no reference point by which to judge the size of this rock. When I look at it, it could be a big montain or a small outcropping... that's what's cool about it...

@Roman: Thanks Roman, there is a very small seagull on the ledge to the right and that is the only scale available, you are right. I just wanted to portray the details of the rock and never thought of the scale!

what an interesting rock - and i love my interesting rocks!!!! the horizontal layers at the bottom are (again) interesting as is the way that they contrast with the vertical like lines at the top of the stack! (i know i need to find a new word but it is too early in the morning that thinking such! haha) such a fascinating capture of geological processes both in the past and present!
