Through the Tarn.

A view of the Tarn bottom, clear water , gentle ripples and light playng together nicely to create this abstract.

I do not always get to check my site every day , so i apologise for not commenting immediately,but i do generally check in 3-5 times a week so your comments are always viewed and appreciated. The Tarn ? The Tarn is a river in France. Do you have a river with the same name in New Zealand ?

@Calusarus: A Tarn is a small clear natural pond that you find high up in the mountains.This one is up at the highest road point on the road across the Alps that divide the West and East Coast from each other in the South Island of NZ.

@Charles: It is rainwater that has filtered to the low depressions high up on a plateau. I love the gentle wind ripples in this shot.

@Dimitrios: I do too. the golds and browns are subtle and sumptious at the same time - if thats possible!

Where does the name 'Tarn' come from...? If that was in Scotland they would be making Whisky from the spring water ;) Nice shot Max.

@Observing: I always thought it was Scottish in origin, and no doubt the water would make great Whiskey!

Very nice abstract. I love the play of the reflections and ripples with the stones. BTW, What is a tarn?

@willow: A tarn is a mountain pond, rainfed and filtered by the soils and plants surrounding them.Glad you like this Willow.
