As the Wind Blows!

Posted by
Maxine (Christchurch, New Zealand) on 2 January 2009 in Plant & Nature.

at the pass, the wind funnels up the valleys to the top and the predominant wind has forced this shrub to grow away from the wind. It is incredible how plants adapt to such extremes, fierce winds , snow, and then the heat of summer.

Nice capture Max. Must be a lot of wind there. We had big gusts last night but the plants still seem to be upright! Good shot.

@Charles: Yes indeed the wind funnels up the gully and hammers this area pretty consistantly so the plants are permanently leaning.
