Mother duck at the rear!

Posted by
Maxine (Christchurch, New Zealand) on 6 January 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

She is keeping them safe but allowing them to lead. I really liked this shot because of the colors of the water in the foreground, and the ducklings being in soft focus.

Its beautiful max just beautiful! I can see what you mean....the soft focus of the ducklings and their little heads reflected are so sweet:-)

They are so cute the little ducks and I think their mother is very proud of them. Nice picture

@Kent: Thankyou Kent, mum was very proud and protective of them as you will see!

I agree that the colors are great and the reflections of the ducklings are awesome, too. I'm glad I'm not the only one who stalks even the "ordinary" ducks!

@willow: I think that 'ordinary' things are often extraordinary when you really stop and look.Ducks are always there , but also always cute and funny and beautiful too.Glad you see this too!

Charles from New York, United States

I like the way she is letting them take off on their own...tough to do in our world. Nice lesson.

@Charles: Thats what I thought also. And it is tough in this world of ours to watch our loved ones walk out as adults!

Sweet shot of the little family, I like the darker water in front too.

Kathryn from Warburton, Australia

great shot! i agree with your description but my favourite aspect of this shot is the angle and composition - the fact that they are coming towards you in a formation almost!

@Kathryn: Yes that is what attracted me at first. my favourite bit is the ripples in front,
